The Silvers Are Back!
We’re thrilled to announce that the silver salmon have returned to Resurrection Bay, just in time for the 63rd annual Silver Salmon Derby! This year the Derby begins Saturday, Aug. 11 at 6 am, and runs until Sunday, Aug. 19 at noon.
Anglers are reporting taking limits both in the outer islands of the bay, and the fishing spots closer to the head of the bay. Across the board, we’re hearing that this year’s returning class is full of big coho! There are plenty of fish to go around, so don’t miss your chance to land some fresh, bright silver salmon!
Many Ways to Win
We’ve got loads of prizes, including tagged fish (up to $50,000 cash!), prizes for the top 20 heaviest fish overall (up to $10,00 cash!), daily prizes for heaviest fish and random weights, and more!
Proceeds from the fish buy-back program support our smolt rearing program, in partnership with Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association.

Daily tickets are $10, or fish all nine days for $50. Purchase your tickets at the Derby booth (across from the Harbormaster’s office near B dock) or The Fish House (1303 Fourth Ave).
